RM of Bayne’s story
The Rural Municipality of Bayne No. 371 incorporated on December 12, 1910. It was named after J. N. Bayne, a deputy minister. Today it lies in the north-central part of the province, and its office is in Bruno.
Settlers from Europe built two of the municipality's heritage landmarks. Hungarian settlers established the St. Laszlo Canadian Magyar Hall as a place of worship, built between 1903 and 1911 and named for St. Laszlo. It stands 6.5 km northeast of Prud'homme. Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church was built in 1927 on land donated by a local immigrant farmer, Nicholas Hawryluke, and was recognized as a Municipal Heritage Property on May 13, 1999.
The RM also played a part in Cold War defence. Canadian Forces Station Dana, a NORAD Pinetree Line radar installation, operated within its boundaries until it was disbanded in 1987. Bremen, Dana, Muskiki Springs, Peterson and Sagehill are among the localities found within the municipality.
